Figures show just how popular the Donegal GAA jersey is

first_imgTHE DONEGAL jersey has rarely been more popular than in the last two of years. At the launch of the new Donegal kit on Monday, it was revealed that Donegal’s jersey sales have been second only to Dublin over the last 30 months.All-Ireland champions Dublin led the way for kit sales by manufacturers O’Neill’s Sportswear, but Donegal’s winning of the Ulster title in each of the last two summers has clearly had a big impact. Donegal County Board Chairman Mick McGrath told Monday’s launch that 20,000 jerseys had been sold in the last two years.“They have been sold all over the world and all over Ireland and the UK,” Mr McGrath said. “There is a huge fan base out there. There is a big fan base in Donegal we are progressing. There is a huge amount of work going on and there are exciting things happening in Donegal.”Donegal’s deal with O’Neill’s includes royalties off each item sold meaning the sales of jerseys and other official team wear has the potential to be a good money spinner. McGrath said that the building at the Donegal GAA Training Centre in Convoy is almost ready for opening while the County Board have embarked on a big fundraising drive that includes a €100 ticket draw that has the first prize of a house in Dublin. The new jerseys are again emblazoned with the logo of main sponsors KN Group and tier 2 sponsors, Abbey Hotel.O’Neill’s Sportswear’s Kieran Kennedy said: “We’re looking forward to working together in 2020. O’Neill’s have a tradition of employing skilled personnel from across the north-west and we are embedded in this area. We have 736 people employed in Strabane and 950 on the island of Ireland. Our motto is to think global and employ local.”Figures show just how popular the Donegal GAA jersey is was last modified: November 19th, 2019 by Chris McNultyShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Declan Bonnerdonegal county boardDonegal GAAMick McGrathO’Neill’s Sportswearlast_img read more

Fishing the North Coast: Rain brings fresh kings to Smith, Chetco rivers

first_imgA series of rain storms moved across the North Coast earlier this week bringing sizable rises to the Chetco and Smith rivers on Tuesday. With off and on rain in the forecast, both rivers should fish well for the next few days. Prior to the rain, fishing was tough for the masses, but the guys who are out there every day were catching their share. With the increase in flows, the rivers should see a pretty good influx of new kings, and should push the older fish into their spawning grounds. We’ll …last_img read more

The cost per cat per transfer was $10 000 (approximately R142 000).Care neededThe animals are no longer able to function in the wild, and will need to be taken care of.“Almost all of the rescued lions have been mutilated to remove their claws, one has lost an eye, another is almost blind, and many have smashed and broken teeth so would not survive in the wild,” ADI said in a statement.Their new South African home is a large natural enclosures containing drinking pools, platforms and toys.“The lion habitats will be steadily expanded over the coming months as the lions become familiar with their new life and are introduced to each other.”ADI president, Jan Creamer, said this is the first time the animals are in their natural habitat. “It’s the best environment for them. They have been beaten, they have been starved, and they have been deprived of everything that makes life worth living for a lion. We have brought them back to paradise, where they belong.” South Africa.info reporterlast_img read more

Brandon Moore Says No to Dallas Cowboys

Brandon Moore is no longer going to play for the Dallas Cowboys. After a change of heart, just a day after Moore verbally agreed to a one-year contract with the Cowboys, he decided to retire from the game all together. At the old age – by NFL standards –  of 33 Moore didn’t want to quit, but after failed attempts to get his asking price of $3 million to $4 million, he decided it was time to move on with his life.“I was wrestling with it all night,” Moore told FOXSports.com’s Mike Garafolo on Wednesday. “I was excited, but when you start looking at all the personal factors that go into it and the commitment on the football side and you’ve been in a different mental state also the past three or four months because no action’s been happening, you kind of move on with your life.”He went on to say, “I was happy with that and fine with that. But when you get a call from a coach I care deeply for in (Cowboys offensive coordinator) Bill Callahan, you start to feel it, you get excited and you’re finally like, ‘I want to do it.’ But you map out the logistics of it all — the physical and mental commitment, the tear on your family.”Moore was rated fourth best guard in the NFL last season. A dominant run blocker and pass blocker protector for the Jets in 2012, he hasn’t missed a start since 2004. Moore still has a lot of play in him, and would have been a valuable addition to the Cowboys. It’s a shame he gave it all up. read more
