There are another three FA Cup third round replays taking place later tonight, but they’re unlikely to match last night’s drama at Upton Park.West Ham came out on-top of an epic penalty shoot-out against 10-man Everton to secure their progress to the fourth-round.Both sides held the lead during the game, which finished dead-locked 2-all after extra-time and there were 20 penalties taken during the shoot-out before Hammers goalkeeper, Adrían scored the decisive goal to help his side to a 9-8 win. West Hams win sets up a fourth-round trip to Bristol City, who beat Doncaster 2-0.Fulham also needed spot-kicks to win their tie, as they got past Wolves, and will now play Sunderland.Chesterfield’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe earned them a game with Derby.Tonights’ replay action will see Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich host Southampton while Tottenham face Burnley in an all Premier League clash. The other game features Bradford against Millwall.
1 Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits he is still pleasantly surprised to have made his first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge this season. The 19-year-old midfielder started the first Premier League match of his career against Liverpool two weeks ago, and has now made three league appearances for the champions.Jose Mourinho has revealed the academy graduate will be a permanent fixture in the first team next season as the Blues attempt to defend their crown, and that is a real surprise for the England Under-21 star who was on the periphery at the start of the campaign.“I look back to pre-season and I didn’t even go away with the first team, so it has been a massive jump,” he said.“I didn’t expect to spend half the season in the first-team squad so I am really happy with how things have gone.” Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea defender Baba Rahman on the verge of joining Schalke in a season-long loan deal. The 22-year-old Ghanaian has already joined the German side on their pre-season training camp in Austria, ahead of finalising the formalities of his switch from Stamford Bridge.Schalke confirmed Rahman’s arrival on Monday afternoon, tweeting on their official club feed: “Abdul Rahman Baba is travelling with the Schalke squad to the training camp.”Rahman made 23 appearances for Chelsea last term, but has been deemed surplus to immediate requirements by new boss Antonio Conte. The 22-year-old only joined Chelsea for £22million last summer on a five-year deal from Augsburg, and deputised regularly for Cesar Azpilicueta last term.
