Mourinho confident of Blues return

first_img He added: “I feel the people there love me and in life you have to look for that. Life is beautiful and short and you must look for what you think is best for you.” Mourinho managed Chelsea between 2004 and 2007 and led them to back-to-back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006. The 50-year-old looks set to replace former interim manager Rafael Benitez, who left the club are leading them to a third-place finish and the Europa League trophy. Mourinho’s appointment may be imminent but the Premier League was forced to issue an apology to Chelsea after their own website jumped the gun on the announcement. An article, headlined ‘Jose Mourinho makes Chelsea return’, was published on Sunday with Monday’s date on it but has since been removed from the premierleague.com website. A spokesman for the Premier League confirmed the article had been published in error. ”It was a publishing error. We took it down as soon as we were notified of it, and we’ve spoken to and apologised to Chelsea. We have no prior knowledge of any movement or any announcement (regarding Mourinho).” The article’s sub-header read ‘Portuguese coach back at Stamford Bridge after signing a XX-year contract’, and the Premier League indicated it was an article which was being prepared in anticipation of a possible announcement. The Premier League is trying to ascertain whether the publication of the article was the result of a system failure or human error. Mourinho’s era as Real Madrid boss ended on Saturday night with a 4-2 win over Osasuna in the Primera Division, with the Portuguese having already confirmed he would leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season. Before he left Spain, Mourinho spoke to TV football show Punto Pelota about his future plans, and said: “I’m going to London on Monday and at the end of the week I will be the manager of Chelsea.” Jose Mourinho has said that he will be the new Chelsea manager by the end of the week.center_img Press Associationlast_img read more

Higuain determined to leave, says AC Milan coach Gattuso

first_imgMilan paid 18 million euros ($20.75 million) to sign him on loan, with a clause to make the deal permanent for a further 36 million euros.Higuain had his most successful season under Sarri, breaking the Serie A goalscoring record with 36 goals in the 2015/16 campaign.“I’ve talked to him a great deal, but it’s hard to give advice, because the career of a player only lasts 13-14 years,” continued Gattuso.“It’s his mind, not mine. The most important thing is to talk as men, look each other in the eyes and speak the truth.“I still don’t understand what Higuain’s unhappy about, because I see a happy lad, involved in the locker room.“We’ll see what happens. If it was up to me, I’d keep him at my house and feed him my dinner.”Share on: WhatsApp Milan, Italy | AFP | Gonzalo Higuain has made up his mind to leave AC Milan, coach Gennaro Gattuso said on Saturday amid speculation linking the striker to Premier League side Chelsea.Higuain joined Milan on a season-long loan from Juventus in July with an option to make the deal permanent, but he has struggled to settle at the San Siro, scoring eight goals in all competitions. The 31-year-old again drew a blank in AC Milan’s 2-0 Italian Cup win over Sampdoria on Saturday as substitute Patrick Cutrone netted a double in extra time.“When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise,” said Gattuso of Higuain.“I have a relationship with him that features great honesty, we say things to one another’s face.“At the moment, he’s our player and we’re holding on tightly to him. I don’t know what will happen.”The Argentina international reportedly wants to join his former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.last_img read more
