Irish Water is to issue nightly water restrictions from tomorrow (Mon) night in the Rossnowlagh and Ballyshannon areas. The company said it is preparing for increased demand for water during the Easter bank holiday weekend and is putting plans in place to safeguard supply for homes, businesses and tourists during this busy period. The issue was raised at this week’s meeting of the local municipal authority by Cllr Michael Naughton. Irish Water will need to restrict water supply at nighttime over the coming weeks to fill treated water storage reservoirs.Beginning tomorrow water supply will be restricted each night from 11pm to 7am for customers supplied from the Ballyshannon Public Water Supply Scheme in the Rossnowlagh area during the Easter Holiday season.Tankers will be available to assist in maintaining reservoir levels. The use of tankers is not a sustainable option and Irish Water is appealing to residents, businesses and visitors to reduce their usage to ensure a consistent supply of water for all.Kevin Love Irish water stated “We are managing water supply at the minute but when activity increases due to increased demand over the Easter holidays we will start to run out. “Irish Water, is upgrading the pumping system supplying water to the Rossnowlagh area to cater for the increased demand for high quality drinking water in Rossnowlagh during the holiday season. Irish Water is also urging residents, businesses and visitors in Rossnowlagh to conserve water to help prevent any supply shortages later in the summer.“However it would be very helpful if customers started to conserve water now before demand increases. Customers on higher ground may experience more interrupted supply and we are urging those customers to contact the Irish Water call centre where they experience prolonged outages on 1850 278 278.”The company is replacing 4.1km of problematic water main on R-231 at Corker, Ballyshannon at the end of April 2019 which should help with securing a constant water supply at Rossnowlagh. It is expected that works will last for approximately five weeks. This will result in an improved level of service for consumers being served from this watermain and a reduction in leakage. There will be traffic management in place during these works and Irish Water is working to minimise disruption to consumers and the travelling public during these essential works. To help conserve water customers are also being asked to report any leaks they see on the public network and to repair any private side leaks in their homes and businesses to help restore water levels in the network. Customers can report any public side leaks online at www.water.ie or by calling the customer care helpline 24/7 on 1850 278 278.Irish Water and Donegal County Council have apologised for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation.Updates will be issued on the water storage levels at the reservoirs and consumers will be advised when they can return to normal usage.Nightly water restrictions planned to save for busy Easter period was last modified: April 14th, 2019 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:EasterIrish WaterRossnowlagh

There will be no easing of the prevailing curfew-like restrictions and communications blockade in Kashmir, at least till the Independence Day functions — planned to be held in all districts of the Valley — are concluded, as the administration is buoyed by the calm maintained by people during Id and Friday prayers.“The restrictions are being eased out in a phased manner in the Valley,” said J&K government spokesperson Rohit Kansal. “Normal situation in the Jammu division has been restored,” he added.Mr. Kansal, however, remained non-committal about any time frame for restoring communications including the Internet in the Valley. Residents in the valley have largely been cut off from the rest of the country and the world since August 5. He also asserted that no untoward incident had been reported anywhere in Kashmir in the past 24 hours. Also Read Newspapers pause publication Police officials said authorities did not want to leave anything to chance ahead of Independence Day. All venues were in the process of undergoing “security sanitisation”, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.Mr. Kansal said full dress rehearsals for the I-Day functions were held in every district of the Valley on Tuesday. “The necessary arrangements have been put in place for grand and befitting functions,” he added.Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan unfurled the Tricolour and took the salute at the march-past in Srinagar’s main venue Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium.Once the hotspot for separatists to organise street protests, Lal Chowk’s Ghanta Ghar was also being spruced up for the I-Day celebrations. In a separate move, Mr. Kansal said the J&K government would host a first-ever global summit, attracting investors from many countries, between October 12-16. “The summit will see investors travelling to Srinagar, Jammu and Ladakh,” he added. This is a major bid by the authorities to establish confidence among the local population on the development front. The Centre has affirmed that J&K offers major potential in tourism and information technology sectors and is keen to help the province to tap it.
James Rodriguez struck twice to seal Colombia’s 2-0 win and eliminate Uruguay from the FIFA World Cup James Rodriguez scored one of the best goals of the tournament and then added a second to put Colombia into the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time with a 2-0 win over Uruguay on Saturday.Statistical Highlights | Match Photos Rodriguez gave his team the lead with a stunning long-range volley on the turn in the 28th minute and netted the second from close range shortly after the break as Colombia dominated a Uruguay side that sorely missed banned striker Luis Suarez.Rodriguez now has a tournament-leading five goals in Brazil and further enhanced his status as perhaps the tournament’s biggest revelation.Uruguay, meanwhile, struggled badly in attack without Suarez and his replacement Diego Forlan was substituted in the 53rd after a disappointing performance in what was probably his final World Cup appearance.Colombia will play Brazil in the quarterfinals on July 4 in Fortaleza after the host beat Chile in a penalty shootout earlier Saturday.Rodriguez showed once again that the Brazilians have every reason to be wary. The opener was his most spectacular goal yet. He chested the ball down with his back to goal well outside the area and in one fluid motion turned around and fired a left-foot volley that went off the underside of the crossbar and into the net.His second was a perfectly executed team move as Colombia worked the ball over from the right flank to the left, where Pablo Armero sent in a cross that was met by Juan Cuadrado at the far post. Cuadrado headed back across goal toward Rodriguez, who slotted in from just a few yards (meters) out.advertisementUruguay coach Oscar Tabarez tried to respond with a double substitution, taking off Forlan and Alvaro Pereira for Gaston Ramirez and Cristhian Stuani. That livened up the attack, with goalkeeper David Ospina having to make good saves from Cristhian Rodriguez and Maxi Pereira before diving to push away a shot from Edinson Cavani in the 84th.But in the end Uruguay simply couldn’t cope without Suarez, who was banned for four months for biting an opponent in the group-stage victory against Italy that sent the team through to the next round. Suarez also missed Uruguay’s first game of the tournament, a 3-1 loss to Costa Rica, before scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over England.Forlan was named the best player of the 2010 World Cup but again looked well past his prime and leaves Brazil without scoring a goal.Rodriguez was taken off near the end to a standing ovation, and then rushed onto the field with his teammates at the final whistle.Team Line-ups(from):Uruguay: Fernando Muslera; Martin Caceres, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin, Maximiliano Pereira; Alvaro Pereira (Gaston Ramirez, 53rd), Alvaro Gonzalez (Abel Hernandez, 67th), Egidio Arevalo, Cristian Rodriguez; Edinson Cavani, Diego Forlan (Christian Stuani, 53rd)Colombia: David Ospina; Juan Zuniga, Cristian Zapata, Mario Yepes, Pablo Armero; Juan Cuadrado (Fredy Guarin, 81st), Abel Aguilar, Carlos Sanchez, James Rodriguez (Adrian Ramos, 85th); Teofilo Gutierrez (Alexander Mejia, 68th), Jackson Martinez
World number one Angelique Kerber is confident the left hamstring injury she picked up at last week’s Madrid Open will not threaten her French Open hopes. The German two-time Grand Slam champion was forced to quit while trailing Canadian Eugenie Bouchard but arrived in Rome on Sunday ready to play in the last big claycourt event before Roland Garros begins on May 28.”I am feeling much better, I mean I did a check after my match in Madrid and I’m lucky it’s not too bad, it’s just a muscle strain,” she was quoted as saying on the WTA Insider Twitter feed on Monday.”I’ve had a lot of treatments. I arrived last night, practised this morning and feeling good.”The 29-year-old Kerber, who returned to the top of the rankings ahead of the pregnant Serena Williams, will be one of the main favourites to win in Paris. Her previous best run at the claycourt slam was a quarter-final appearance in 2012.
